Kent Simmons
What
is your background in running?
Kent became interested in running after watching his father
run and thought that it looked fun.
Kent ran track & field in high school at Greater Atlanta
Christian School. He was a
State Qualifier in the 300 Hurdles in 1978 and 1979. Kent continued to run off and on
until he began teaching. He
has been running consistently for 13 years now.
What
is your favorite running trail?
KentŐs
favorite place to run is at the many trails in Kennesaw National Park.
What
do you think is the most pertinent issue in running today?
Kent believes that the most important
issue in running in Cobb is preserving venues for groups to run, hold
practices and host races.
What other
organizations, teams, or other activities are you involved with?
Kent
was an assistant cross country coach for Harrison HS from 1995-2002. Since then Kent has been co-Head
Cross Country Coach at Harrison.
What do
you hope RunCobb
will accomplish?
I hope that RunCobb becomes an advocate for developing more running venues in Cobb
County.
